This year the New Year and Christmas festivities in the capital of Halychyna are held under the title “Christmas unites people in Lviv,” which shows the desire of the residents of all regions of Ukraine to unite. Lviv turns into a real fairytale for the period of New Year and Christmas celebrations. The city welcomes everyone who has not made plans for the holidays yet.
Many events are traditionally held in the center of the city near the New Year’s Tree, as well as at the Rynok Square, near the City Hall.
Lviv fairs will be operating till January 19. There you can try tasty food and buy various handmade products crafted by masters from all over Ukraine.
The Central Park of Culture will be one of the main winter venues. The program of the Winter Park is scheduled in a way that weather conditions cannot affect it. For snowy weather tracks for sledges and snow tubing are being prepared, and if there is no snow, 3D mapping show, bicycle trial, fire show, knight bouts, and other attractions will be waiting for the guests. The fair, ecological New Year’s Tree and the “residence of husky dogs” will supplement the events. The Winter Park will be functioning till January 19.
In the courtyard of the City Hall on December 25 and 26 and on January 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 a fire installation show When Angels Go Down From Heaven, with mountain climbers involved, will be held. The wonderful show staged by the Voskresinnia Theater is really worth of seeing.
A nativity scene will be traditionally placed at Rynok Square. All the figurines were carved from poplar by a sculptor from Lviv and later will be painted by children.
On Christmas Eve, January 6, the city Didukh will be installed at Yavorsky Square.
January 7 to 10 the City Feast of Pampukh will be held at Rynok Square, where the visitors will have an opportunity to try pampushka buns, sing carols, and learn old Ukrainian traditions.
