BOATS – SKETCH FOR THE PAINTING FISHERMEN BY OLEKSANDR LOKHTENKO (SEVASTOPOL)
STILL LIFE WITH MELON BY OLEG TENYAEV (SAINT PETERSBURG)

An exhibition of works by Oleksandr Lokhtenko (Sevastopol) and Oleg Tenyaev (Saint Petersburg) is launched at the Mykhailo Kroshytsky Sevastopol Art Museum. This duet is not coincidental. The artists are colleagues and close friends. Each one has his own path in art, but both share the ambition to leave their contribution to contemporary neorealism.

Lokhtenko is “a painter of Balaklava.” He designed and built a spacious and airy art studio, which became an unofficial cultural center of Balaklava. Lokhtenko organizes meetings of Ukrainian and Russian artists there to discuss the up-to-date issues of artistic life.

Tenyaev is a member of the Union of Russian Artists. He has a great sense of picturesque details and is capable of conveying all the various states of nature from the Urals to the Crimea. Nature for Lokhtenko and Tenyaev is a usual artistic environment, a source of creative inspiration. Their worldview is based on the “philosophy of beauty,” which proclaims the harmony of coexistence of nature and the humankind. The natural beauty of the universe, lyrical, romantic, and panoramic landscape motifs of eternally beautiful nature, people who live in harmony with the world and with their own selves – these are the main themes that reveal the essence, the main senses of the artists’ work.
