It is an incredibly interesting to have a chance to touch the biographies, tracing the momentous circumstances that connect generations and define the life path.

Your interest grows as soon as you start reading a new chapter in the museum project “Family Values – Family Connections.” “Family. Mastery. Tradition” – the exposition of the works by Krasny-Olkhov family – is linking the present and the past, casting an impulse to the future. Perhaps, when a family realizes itself in a certain profession, it comes up with a desire to honor the parents, uniting in one exhibition space the elderly of the family who gave the creative guideline, present their vast oeuvre, and involve the ones who will continue to increase their artwork.

The oldest generation of the Krasny family is represented by artists Ivan Krasny (1917-90) and Slava Livshyts (1915-95). Krasny dedicated nearly 40 years to teaching. His favorite topic in art was Kaniv’s nature. That is the reason why he was called the minstrel of Ukrainian nature and a poet of watercolors. Livshyts’s artwork (landscapes, still lifes, and portraits) is highly valued both by collectors and museum employers.

Tetiana Krasna, the daughter of the renowned couple, is the descendant of the dynasty of artists. Philosophical exploration and emotional openness are the prevailing topics in the master’s works.

Her husband Oleksandr Olkhov can turn an everyday motif into a feast of art, demonstrating the artistic variations in different seasons and transcending the vistas into a new artistic reality, full of a living breath of nature. Olkhov is considered to be a bright representative of Ukrainian impressionism.

The artist’s daughter Maryna Olkhova admits that she got an impetus to creative work and started to love watercolors owing to the influence of her grandfather. Maryna’s works, which are complicated due to their rich color palette, are proof that the artist aims at developing her mastery, increasing the precision of her brush strokes and virtuosity. The author, giving joy with her landscapes and floral compositions, emphasizes the beauty of the pristine nature and the value of simple discoveries.

The Krasny-Olkhov artists with their professional language and sincerity bring us back to the silent pleasures of everyday life.

The exhibit will be open till December 17.
