Five Continents Will View Ukrainian Fashion

22 July, 2003 - 00:00

These days an event occurred of great importance for Ukrainian fashion and its future: the Fashion TV channel has appeared in Ukraine. It is one of the five most popular television channels in the world with target audience of 557 million, mostly consisting of affluent people aged from 18 to 45. At present, Fashion TV broadcasts in 130 counties on five continents. In Europe, most of the channel’s viewers live in Italy, France, and Great Britain (10 to 13 million). It is hard to predict how many there will be in Ukraine. However, the fact remains that Ukrainian fashion shows, various parties, and other events planned by the newly created channel management and its director, Ramie Damri, will be broadcast the world over, since the program is the same for every country, and this will definitely be of interest for Ukrainian TV viewers. Now it may well be that a Serhiy Byzov collection will be shown immediately after Gaultier or Dolce&Gabbana. The world’s major fashion channel has finally made it to our country, which is quite ready for it. Some of our designers cooperate with venerable foreign couturiers quite successfully. Now they have a chance to strengthen this cooperation and, moreover, demonstrate its results on Fashion TV. At least, Mr. Damri promised that such cooperation with European designers would take place. In addition, the channel’s viewers will have an opportunity to watch global events in the fashion world both live and recorded. Incidentally, the first show about Ukraine is to appear on the channel in the next few days. This will be a report from a party dedicated to the presentation of the world fashion television industry leader in Ukraine, which took place last Saturday at the Green Theater open-air discotheque in Kyiv. Fashion TV will be broadcast through the cable television network, according to the agreement with Ukraine’s Inter television channel.
