On November 2, famous Israeli violinist, violist, and conductor Shlomo Mintz will perform at the Ivan Franko National Theatre – this will be the musician’s debut before the Ukrainian public. He began his artistic career at the age of 11(!), as a soloist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta, who invited the talented boy as an emergency replacement to Itzhak Perlman for the performance of Paganini’s First Violin Concerto. When he was 16, Shlomo Mintz debuted at the legendary Carnegie Hall with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. This musician was one of the first in the world to record the 24 caprices of Paganini; he has conducted major orchestras in Europe, Japan, Israel, and other countries.
In our capital, Mints will play with the orchestra “Virtuosos of Kyiv,” under the direction of Dmytro Yablonsky, conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the nominee of Grammy award. Yablonsky has also played with the Royal Orchestra in London and with the National Orchestra of France.
The evening program will feature the works by Giuseppe Verdi, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Johann Strauss. Shlomo Mintz will also perform the Violin Concerto in E minor by Felix Mendelssohn and Dmytro Yablonsky will play the Concerto for Cello and Orchestra by Antonin Dvorak.
