This dog’s life looks like the script of a film with an unknown – happy or unhappy – end: it consists of a hot mixture of such contradictory things as pathological failure and incredible success.
Humans moved him, a little puppy, from a cozy dwelling place to an industrial hinterland, where he was doomed to painfully starve to death. He was lucky, though: had he not met, by sheer miracle, kindhearted people who could not pass by the big-eared doggie, his life would have ended much earlier.
Things seemed to be OK, for he was picked up, but the truth is the doggie, which looked like a German shepherd pup, was so exhausted and dehydrated that he resembled a canine skeleton covered with skin rather than a true puppy. The never-ending hunger made him reach out for food, but he could not eat, for his organism would reject food. Then came the long days of veterinary consultations, being on a drip, examinations, hopelessness, and, at the same time, hope of the people who wished to help a puppy in dire straits.
Doctors were unable to make a diagnosis. Clinics and hopes day by day… Most of the doctors strongly advised to put the dog to sleep. None of the doctors wanted to take care of the puppy, explaining this very simply: we don’t need this stray and non-purebred animal which requires a lot of effort and expense to boot.
Then, suddenly, another success: they found a doctor who agreed to help and conducted a long and expensive examination. The medic found a rare pathology – anomalous development of the aortic arch – in the dog’s body. There had been so far no positive results of the surgeries of dogs with this pathology. But the doctor tapped all the possible and impossible resources, he fought for the life of a non-purebred puppy as if it were a prize-winning pedigree dog. And the puppy survived.
Incidentally, it is Ukraine’s first successful dog surgery of this kind. The puppy not only survived: it is now unique. He has not been entered into the Guinness Record Book but remains just a dog that does not know about medicine and veterinary science – he just goes on living and feeling himself a healthy dog. The only remaining problem is meals: the food should be ground and served from a special table only. But this cute aristocratic particularity is a trifle for the loving family.
Our hero films very well, for he looks gorgeous. On a photo, you can take him for a splendid exhibition dog. He has not grown a big handsome animal: he is a scaled-down copy of a German shepherd, a breed that people love so much. This wonderful dog with a not-so-rosy past believes in his radiant future.
He hopefully waits for his master every day. Childhood has left its imprint: he is suspicious, but his heart is open to the love of a true master to whom he will be the most loyal servant. He pledges to watch the health of his master when the latter walks him in the open air which his organism needs so badly. He is ready to be the best warning device and signal his master about all visitors. Yet he will never be savage or aggressive. He is intelligent and knows some commands. All he does not but is eager to know is being a beloved household dog. He is looking forward to this and believes that the last step towards the happy end of this story is sure to be taken.
