The exhibition is called “Collection of Wonders.” Ferrer experiments with objects, combining them in all possible ways: lines of inanimate objects turn into hands, faces, eyes... It seems that the artist aims to overcome the division line between nature and man-made world of things. First of all he is interested in plasticity, linear character, and composition. These aspects give birth to incomprehensible images. Sometimes they leave the viewer somewhat helpless, catching his attention for a long time and seeking clues to the encoded “original ideas.”

The main genres presented at the exhibition were book graphics and theater posters (even illustration to programs of Barcelona Opera Theater “Liceu”). Such combination can hardly be considered typical for any solo expositions. Isidro Ferrer managed to surprise the audience. He carefully controlled all preparations for the exhibition and for that came to Kyiv in advance. Two days before the opening of the exhibition he delivered a lecture at the National Technical University.

At some point, Ferrer was a theater actor. Perhaps, this has influenced his creative work in some ways. First is the fact that he favored play of images, arbitrary interpretation of themes, which was born as if “here and now.” Such spontaneity and live artistic manner make the creative work of the artist close to the elements of theater. Secondly, he made a lot of theater posters, in particular, for classic drama plays from the world repertoire (William Shakespeare, Friedrich Schiller, Bertolt Brecht). The artist acknowledged that he recognized his vocation for graphic art after he had a serious injury. Rehabilitation required much time. It was then that Ferrer-artist was born. Later he studied in Barcelona in the studio of the famous Spanish designer Pere Torrent. Then it was the time of numerous exhibitions, awards, and international recognition. Now, Ferrer’s creative “geography” includes over two dozens countries, including the United States. He also works for advertising. Ferrer also creates small sculptures made of exclusive materials and produced in limited quantities.

The exhibition of Isidro Ferrer’s art work is held under the patronage of the Embassy of Spain in Ukraine, and the paintings can be viewed at the gallery until May 11.
