A March of Embroidered Shirts has recently taken place in Kyiv, gathering nearly 500 people. The event took place for the ninth time. The event is organized by students of Kyiv universities twice a year: on second weekend of May and September. It all started, when one of the organizers, Andrii Babinsky, decided to go out for a show-off walk in his new embroidered shirt, which he purchased for his graduation. He invited his friends through social networks to join him. In recent years the event has been gathering nearly 500 people. As a rule, the crowd moves from the Golden Gates through St. Sofia Square, Andriivsky Uzviz, Kontraktova and Evropeiska squares on to Khreshchatyk. Because this year the construction works are underway in Adriivsky Uzviz, the usual route had to be adjusted: the participants went from the Golden Gates across St. Sofia Square, Mykhailivksa Square, Evropeiska Square, and ended their march in Shevchenko Park. We must say that such activities have become a trend. Thus Blossom of Embroidery Festival has recently taken place in Ternopil and on August 24 the all-Ukrainian parade of embroidered shirts will be held in Kyiv. The parade will be supervised by the social activist Ihor Dobrutsky and famous rock singer Oleh Skrypka.
