At the Miskolc Painting Gallery, Hungary, a movable exhibit of paintings and sculptures by modern Transcarpathian painters called “A Profile,” dedicated to the Day of Hungarian Culture, has recently been organized by the General Consulate of the Hungarian Republic in Uzhhorod.
Seventy-one works were presented for the connoisseurs of art of the neighboring country: 61 paintings and 10 sculptures. The works were created by well-known Transcarpathian artists Volodymyr Mykyta, Vasyl Sochka, Ivan Brovdi, Vasyl Svaliavchyk, Borys Kuzma, Stepan Sholtes, Frantsysk Erfan, Vasyl Vovchok, Zoltan Michka, etc.
“The exhibit will be on display in Miskolc for four weeks, after which it will go to Hungary’s second largest city Debrecen, and later – to Erd. In a year time the exhibit will visit nearly 10 cities, and we plan to finish the display of the art works in a town Mariaposc, which is well-known to several generations of Transcarpathian residents, because it is a place of pilgrimage to the Miracle-Working Icon of Mother of God,” says General Consul of Hungary in Uzhhorod Laszlo Vida.
“Selecting works to be displayed at the exhibit, we wanted to show in the best possible way the palette of present-day visual art of Transcarpathia to the Hungarian audience,” said the head of the Transcarpathian center of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Borys Kuzma. “The exposition includes works by our coryphaei and artists of middle generation, whose work is well known among the admirers of the visual art in Central Europe, and the younger representatives of the Transcarpathian artistic school as well.”
