On September 21 in Mariinsky Park in Kyiv and in the square near the Monument to Viacheslav Chornovil in Lviv Plast members traditionally built Plast towns. This is the annual action of the largest scout organization in Ukraine. The program includes Plast activities and games, including setting of fire, making knots, crossing, sports and intellectual games, games for the youngest, as well as shooting, assembling and disassembling of automatic guns, artistic and medical master classes, etc.

“Traditionally on this day we introduce our organization to the city community. This is a holiday for Plast members as well: a good opportunity to gather after the camp summer, share impressions and plans for the next Plast year,” says the commandant [the organizer. – Ed.] of the launch of the Plast Year in Kyiv Andrii Cheberiak. “This year the Plast town, by our estimates, received 500 visitors. Half of them were children aged between 4 and 17.”

“The events again make us understand that our work and fostering of a high-moral, spiritual, and patriotic citizen is a badly needed thing. Since young age children get to know what State, Freedom, Sovereignty is, learn history and honor traditions with the help of scout practices with Ukrainian specifics,” says the commandant of the Lviv Plast town Matvii Dukh.

Today several dozens of Plast members take part in the ATO against the Russian military aggression. On Sunday, on the initiative of The Day journalists a fundraiser for the military was held during the action. The guests bought out several hundred postcards with photos of Ukrainian nature and graphic in a matter of three hours. The Plast members will give all raised money for the needs of 11th battalion of territorial defense “Kyivan Rus’.”
