“Thought forms” in ceramics

An exhibit of famous Ukrainian artist Nelli Isupova opens at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum
23 September, 2015 - 18:03

It is not important whether you see the artwork by Nelli Isupova for the first time or regularly visit her exhibits, studying her “constructs” one by one, you will anyway be amazed by the creativity of the master. The fantasy, molded, burned, and painted with colored glaze starts to exist in reality. You can even touch it. The artist has a very precise definition to her works. Nelli Isupova calls them “thought forms.” Her works look like sorcery: good, positive, when unusual creatures and items appear as if as a result of a wave of a magic wand.

Nelli Isupova dedicated her entire creative life to majolica. The bright festive colors, the glittering of the glaze. It is not without the reason that the artist names happiness, freedom, and joy of life as the main topics of her works. Therefore her “thought forms” make one smile, elevated, and full of energy.

Incidentally, Nelli Isupova is a winner of the Kateryna Bilokur Prize.

Her small plastic works and decorative panels are perceived as a kind of people’s creative work, which is exclusively Ukrainian one, cheerful and life-asserting. One of the works is a panel, depicting strange animals. This is a tribute to Maria Prymachenko.

Isupova says that her main task is perfection. This is a hard task, almost impossible to achieve, because it demands a combination of creativity and hard work. The exhibit at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum is a bright proof that Nelli Isupova is able to improve the world through her creative work.

The exhibit will be open till September 30.
