This is the largest project by the Kyiv department of the National Artists Association of Ukraine. Throughout its five-year-long history it has developed into a tradition. The masterminds explained to us that the themes of exhibits change every year. “One year it is an exhibit of decorative and applied art, the next one, all kinds of fine arts, from sculpture to painting,” says the Artist’s House deputy head for exhibition activity Maryna DEREHUS. This year’s exhibit at the Artist’s House will also include painting.
Despite the fact that the exhibit is Christmas-themed, each time it is a full-scale presentation of the latest trends in Ukrainian art. Artists from all regions of Ukraine participate in it, and therefore various styles, thematic preferences, and coloristic decisions are represented here.
Also, the All-Ukrainian Christmas exhibit brings together works by both renowned and budding artists. This year, for example, one can see here paintings by Vira Barynova-Kulieba, Oleksii Petrenko, and Borys Mykhailov from Kyiv, Viktor Kovtun from Kharkiv, Hennadii Zhukov from Donetsk, structural compositions by Mykyta Malchenko and Ihor Hlukhenky, and graphical compositions by Oleksii Kriuk from Chernihiv and Vira Chursina from Kharkiv, and many more. There are more than 500 items displayed at the exhibit. This is a kind of artistic review of art communities from Kosiv to Berdiansk to Mariupol. And each of them possesses its own world outlook and a peculiar reinterpretation of artistic traditions.
The Ukraine-wide Christmas exhibit will be open for visitors at the Central Artist’s House on Lvivska Square until January 9, 2012.
