They put small mills and fence here, planted flowers and put a jackstraw. Inna Herasymenko says that this all was her husband’s idea. “Before, there was thick underbrush here. But the trees were cut by Public Housing Maintenance Office. Then I decided to use what was left to make a fence. I put up a fence and then planted lawn grass on the rest of the territory. Soon after that my wife planted flowers. I made benches and put a table. The next step was decorating it all,” said Hryhorii Herasymenko. His wife Inna said that they have plans to continue plant flowers in their yard: “We now cultivate many sorts of flowers. Every season we have new kinds of flowers. For example, in the summer time we planted roses and now we will have lots of roses.”

The neighbors are also happy that their yard looks so beautiful. They say that now it feels really nice to be outside. People living in other apartment blocks picked up Herasymenkos’ idea. They are also making benches and planting flowers now.

Making the place of your residence comfortable to live in is one of the topics that were discussed at the roundtable in Donetsk. The Day’s experts spoke about the fact that the more effort we’ll put in working on what surrounds us the more we will appreciate it. Without our involvement in our lives, in life of our city and in our country we will not have any improvements in our society. The Herasymenko family share this belief.
