THE FIRST PLACE. BALAKLAVA. KOSTIANTYN BOBRYSHCHEV (KOBELIAKY, POLTAVA OBLAST)

Today we are offering for your attention the results of the contest “The Day’s Photo Seasons,” which lasted for three months on our web site, www.day.kiev.ua

Above all, it should be noted that the winners in this competition are quite relative because it is simply impossible to identify which place is more beautiful, the Carpathian Mountains or the Crimea, and which is of greater historical importance, Kamianets-Podilsky or Khotyn. Apparently, it was a hard decision for our readers too: only few votes divided the leaders. And it is also very gratifying that practically all regions of Ukraine are present in the submitted photos. No matter what, Ukrainians want to show their country to each other and to their guests. And we are glad that The Day’s projects help them in this.

According to the number of readers’ votes (1,051), the first place goes to Balaklava by our good friend Kostiantyn Bobryshchev from Kobeliaky, Poltava oblast. The second place, with 1,034 votes, goes to Pavlo Likhotkin from Orativ, Vinnytsia oblast, and his picture of the Monastery of the Discalced Carmelites in Berdychiv. The third place, which earned 1,032 votes, goes to Kamianets Twilight by Artem Zhukov, The Day. A special award from the editorial jury goes to Oleksandr Holoborodko from Kherson for his photo Dovzhenko and Dmytro Alimkin from Kramatorsk for Saving the History.

Our new competition will be dedicated to autumn, a special time for all Ukrainians (even those urbanized). All agricultural works end and the period of matchmaking and wedding preparations begins by the Holiday of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary (October 14). After the Intercession the autumn wedding weeks start. Besides, the season of vechornytsi begins in fall. Ukrainians embellish all these cares with wonderful traditions, which vary from region to region, thus getting more interesting. So, dear masters of photography and amateur photographers, it’s time to grab your cameras! Send your works at [email protected] and vote on The Day’s website. We are waiting for your works.

Pay attention: we will not consider staged photos from usual weddings without any zest.
