The exposition shows paintings by Semen Shcherbyna, a young and talented artist whose works have been highly appraised not only in Ukraine, but in Europe too.

The current exhibit represents the genre of abstract painting and shows a transformed picture of the Ukrainian village of the 18th century. The author makes the audience plunge into the authentic atmosphere of village landscapes, but is doing so in the style of the 21st century. The innovative color combinations go along with the plots from Kobzar’s works and seem to paint fragments from the history of the villages of our country into the cosmic abyss.

Semen Shcherbyna is a member of the National Association of Artists of Ukraine. He has taken part in many projects, as an artist and installer. Den has reported about the artist’s vernissage that opened past summer at the Jakob Grether Art Center as well, with its concept combining the “String theory” and the Biblical topics. Currently the master’s paintings are stored in private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, and Italy.

The Kyiv exhibit will be underway until March 27.
