The long Christmas marathon is now over and it is time to sum up the national mini-photo competition “Ukrainian Christmas” (part of The Day’s cycle “Photo Seasons”). The participants took pictures of Ukrainians celebrating, from St. Andrew’s Day until Epiphany. The visitors to our website (www.day.kiev.ua) gave an honest assessment of the works.

The results of the national vote are the following: the first place was taken by the photographer of The Day Ruslan Kaniuka and his I Was Here First photo; the second place belongs to a regular participant and repeated winner of The Day’s photo competitions, Kostiantyn Bobryshchev from Kobeliaky, Poltava oblast, for First Snow; Anton Petrus from Uzyn, Kyiv oblast, took the third place with Christmas Eve. The editorial jury also traditionally picks its favorite — this time it was Going for Epiphany Water by Mykola Ohorodnyk from Zdolbuniv, Rivne oblast. Congratulations!

The following topic for The Day’s “Photo Seasons” is “My Best Friend,” meaning cats and dogs, rabbits and parrots, and all those creatures who give us their love, and are so patient in getting our attention and need our care so much. They are vulnerable without us and our life is not complete without them. They are real members of our families and each of them has their own character and destiny. They deserve to become the heroes of your photos and be shown to the entire country. We are expecting unique, unexpected photos of your pets. Send them to [email protected] with interesting captions. Vote for the most interesting photos on our website.
