The leader of Ukrainian soccer continues to reinforce its ranks. After acquiring the Bulgarian Georgy Peyev and the Rumanian Florian Cernat, Kyiv Dynamo also invited two Yugoslavs: 22 year-old central fullback Goran Gavrancic (first division Cukaricki) and the 24 year-old halfback Zoran Kulic (second division Mladost).
Although the agreement had been reached before the New Year, the players themselves (in Yugoslavia at the time) sealed it with their signatures on January 2 in Kyiv. On the eve of the national championship’s second leg, Dynamo management plans to greatly strengthen the squad: talks will be resumed with the Romania’s Brasov club about the acquisition of forward Vasile Ghindaru. Meanwhile, two Nigerian players, a fullback and a forward, are expected to arrive in Kyiv on January 15-16.
As we see, Dynamo is paying more and more attention to the soccer market in the far abroad, hoping that the purchase of players there will help it return to the European soccer elite. The hope of spotting talents only within the confines of the former USSR seems to be a thing of the past.
In the meantime, Kyiv Dynamo player Kakha Kaladze, whose transfer to Italy has been talked about for many weeks now, played the full ninety minutes for the world’s select team in a Yokohama friendly match against the united team of South Korea and Japan. The goal scored by the Korean Ko Yongsu prodded the world team’s Robert Prosinecki (Croatia) to even things up at 1:1.
