Italian Institute of Culture in Ukraine together with the Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko National Museum of Arts invite residents and guests of the Ukrainian capital to the exhibition “Three Masterpieces of Classical Art from Italian Museums. Raphael, Titian, and Guido Reni.” This unique exposition is held in the framework of the project “European Dimension” with the assistance of the Department of Culture of the Kyiv City State Administration and the Embassy of Ukraine in the Vatican. The exhibition features three world-famous art pieces of the 16th-early 17th century, which usually do not leave the premises of the Italian museums.
Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Ukraine Nicola Franco BALLONI told The Day: “Khanenkos Museum for the first time in Ukraine exhibited the masterpiece of Late Renaissance Venus and Adonis by Titian, which was kindly provided by the famous National Gallery of Ancient Art Palazzo Barberini (Rome). Art lovers in Ukraine will also get a chance to see the majestic tapestry Miraculous Draught of Fishes made from wool, silk, gold, and silver threads from cartoons by the legendary Raphael made for the Sistine Chapel, and the painting Jesus Christ made by the leading Italian Baroque artist Guido Reni (these masterpieces belong to the Museum-Treasury of the Holy House of Loreto). According to a legend, the so-called Holy House (another name – House of the Virgin Mary), where allegedly the Virgin Mary was born and grew up, was moved to this city, one of the most important centers of Christian pilgrimage.”
The exhibition will be open at the Khanenkos Museum until July 5.
