The latest issue of Route No. 1 – the 37th – offers a unique art guide which not only shows the past, but also projects the future
5 November, 2015 - 11:46

The day the latest issue of the glossy supplement will be available for sale, November 6, the 17th Den’s Photo Exhibition will open in the Lavra gallery. Thus, the new Route No. 1 will become a guidebook to the history of Ukrainian and world photography, as well as to the annual photographic chronicle of Den – our exhibition.

“Den’s Photo Exhibition is perfectly tailored for the comprehension of our country. In the days of disregard of the individual and in the time when kitsch reigns, we had shown the real Ukrainian characters. At a time when the changes were pending – and many did not see it – we had shown photos of anticipation and warning. These photographs are “pebbles,” which should guide the country on the return route to itself,” Larysa Ivshyna, Den/The Day’s editor-in-chief writes in the traditional introductory editorial address. “There are dark pictures one would want to forget. But they must be regarded rationally, we must gather our strength and influence. There are very cute and moving photos. There are many pictures that are saturated with love. And nowadays we need such photos very much, as a kind of a ‘healing potion.’ Think of our exhibition as a ‘pharmacy.’”

The Route No. 1, Photobiennale of the Country, contains the most interesting pieces prepared by the Den’s creative team. For example, there are three interviews with participants of the photo contest; the art of Viktor Kovalchuk, Oleksii Plysk, and Oleh Batrak is striking. And there is also another conversation – with the “reporter on detail” Serhii Piaterykov.

The traditional infographics will tell about the history of photography in Ukraine and the world. Also, the glossy will offer ten rules of an ideal photo for the amateurs of selfies, a list of movies every photographer should see, and a lot of interesting information about Den’s Photo Contest.

And there is yet many more of that which the pages of the latest Route No. 1 contain! Its 37th issue, Photobiennale of the Country, will be available on November 6 in the press kiosks and online on Den/The Day’s website.
