1944: The Central Committee of the CP(b) and the Radnarkom of the Ukrainian SSR adopt a decree on emergency measures to secure production of munitions at the enterprises of the Ukrainian SSR.

1951: A branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR is organized in Lviv.

1970: The 50th Anniversary of Great October South Steelworks in Nikopol launches Ukraine’s first tube-rolling mill.

1991: Cardinal Myroslav Liubachivsky of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church returns to Lviv from immigration.

1993: Ukraine’s first international drama festival Berezil-93 starts in Kharkiv.

1995: Under an edict of the President of Ukraine, the Crimean government is subordinated to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine until the enactment of a new Constitution of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea.

2002: Elections to the Verkhovna Rada and to city, village, raion, and oblast councils are held in Ukraine.
