On April 4 artistic-documentary exhibition “Informal Faces of Classics. Cartoons, caricatures, and epigrams from funds of the CSAMLA of Ukraine” dedicated to the Day of Humor will open at the conference hall of the Central State Archive Museum of Literature and Art of Ukraine (CSAMLA). At the presentation of the exhibition Anatolii Palamarenko, Hero of Ukraine, winner of Taras Shevchenko National Prize, and outstanding master of artistic expression will deliver his speech. Actor will read humoresques by Ostap Vyshnia, Pavlo Hlazovy, and other authors.
The basis of the exhibition are the archival documents, which in caricature form, witty epigrams, and parodies reveal the life and career of prominent representatives of literature and art of the 20th century, reveal the informal side of their lives and creative work. The exhibition features friendly cartoons of prominent figures of Ukrainian culture – Yurii Severyn, Kazymyr Ahnit-Sledzevsky, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, from the series “Ukrainian Parnassus” (the 1920s), Yurii Kruhliak, Mykhailo Shchehlov, Anatolii Arutiuniants, Valentyn Lytvynenko, Emmanuil Mysko, Yurii Ivakin, and others accompanied by epigrams by Volodymyr Sosiura, Vira Yenina, Mykola Butovych, Halyna Hordasevych, and parodies by Ivan Bahriany.
The four sections of the exhibition (“Novelists, poets, playwrights, and literary critics,” “Artists, sculptors, and architects,” “Cinema and theater actors,” “Composers, musicians, and musicologists”) you can see the cartoons, parodies, and epigrams of Andrii Malyshko, Mykola Zerov, Ihor Muratov, Pavlo Tychyna, Liubov Zabashta, Vasyl Zemliak, Vira Vovk, Vitalii Korotych, Ivan Drach, Ivan Kavaleridze, Zoia Haidai, Yevhen Ponomarenko, Natalia Uzhvii, Mykhailo Hryshko, Anatolii Kos-Anatolsky, and Vitalii Kyreiko. Documentary part of the exhibition will be complemented by the exhibits from the museum funds of the CSAMLA of Ukraine: portraits of humorist writers – Stepan Oliinyk and Hryhorii Boiko, personal belongings of Ostap Vyshnia, Pavlo Hlazovy, and Yurii Ivakin.
Many documents and art works from the funds of the CSAMLA of Ukraine will be presented to public for the first time.
