Lviv now hosts Ukraine’s best bouldering wall. Not surprisingly the Lviv Cup attracted the best Ukrainian climbers. Ukraine has a number of bouldering achievements. This year’s Lviv Cup contestant, Olha Shalahina (Odesa) is a world champion. Last year the young star proved to be unrivaled at the world championships in Munich. The competition in Lviv is a test for the unique wall; the best athletes from the strongest climbing centers in Kyiv, Donetsk, Odesa, Kamianets-Podilsky, Ivano-Frankivsk, Luhansk, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Yuzhny, Lviv, and Mariupil decided to test their strength on extremely difficult routes. The Alpinism and Rock Climbing Federation organized this year’s Ukrainian bouldering championships in Lviv. The wall in Lviv was built under the supervision of Volodymyr Kushnir and features over 2,500 climbing grips, so Polish climbers also came to test it.

Stanislav Klishniov of Donbas placed first among the men, Petro Shcherbyna (Odesa) came second, and Andriy Zhyharev (Kyiv) won the bronze medal. In the women’s group world champion Olha Shalahina of Odesa was insuperable, along with Olena Ostapenko from Kharkiv.
